Harmonizing expeditions with philanthropic ventures
 

1.

Organization: South African Institute of Race Relations (SAIRR)
Mountain: Kilimanjaro (Africa’s tallest mountain)
Location: Tanzania, Africa
Purpose: Scholarship will send two less fortunate African students to Medical School starting Fall 2004
Other facts: SAIRR is the same organization that funded Nelson Mandela's Law School education

Organization: Apoyo Escolar Nuestra Senora de la Paz
Mountain: Aconcagua (South America’s tallest mountain)
Location: Virreyes, Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina
Purpose: Scholarship will fund one teacher's salary for one year starting Fall 2004
Other facts: JP Morgan has also invested capital into this organization - JP Morgan is independently funding six teacher's salaries starting 2004
   
 

3.

Organization: Through the Alaskan Health Care Consortium
Mountain: Mt. McKinley (Denali)
Location: Alaska, United States
Purpose: Sending 8 native Alaskans to graduate school in a health care related field. Four will be Doctors, 2 health care administrators and 2 Health Care policy makers

Organization: Explorers Club (Seven Summits Awards Program Sponsored by Bo Parfet and the Explorers Club)
Mountains and Locations: Mountain: Antarctica - Vinson Massif, Asia - Mount Everest, Europe - Mount Elbrus, Australia - Kosciusko
Purpose: To complete the Seven Summits Scholarship Program – Bo has established this
vehicle through the Explorers Club to create four more scholarships (for the four remaining mountains on each respective continent) where he has completed climbing expedition.
